Lily had her baby, Clover, about 6 weeks ago. Her sister, Star, is having her baby right now.... a little doeling I'm calling Rose. She was born about a half hour ago, and is still getting cleaned by her mom. She is a gorgeous dark red with a white patch. Just waiting to see if a second is going to be born.... will update soon!!
For those of you new to Crazy Dog Farm, I also have started breeding Crazy Boer Goats:-)

So, ok, I suck at keeping up with the blog! I will strive to do way, WAY better this year, I promise!
You've probably noticed some changes in the website this year. I have now split the dog stuff from the farming stuff, to make it (hopefully) easier for people to find what they are looking for. All things dog you now go to www.crazydogsports.com I will be holding more classes and workshops this year... should be a fun year for dogs! And back to the gardens.... The gardens so far this year are doing so much better than the same time last year. Mostly due to the weather being a bit closer to 'normal' instead of 'freezing my butt off' ;-) I am also planting about 5-10 times more quantity than I did last year. I am doing my CSA memberships (changes there, too!!), and I also plan on attending at least one or two farmers markets this year. I have one greenhouse up, and have been harvesting early salad greens for the last couple of months from it, and am now going to plant some cuc's and tomatoes in there. I will be putting up 2 more greenhouses/hoophouses within the next year as well, so I can greatly extend the season, and have veggies pretty much year round! The second house I plan on getting done by August 15, and the last (and biggest) will hopefully be done by Feb 15 of next spring, so I can have wayyyyy more super early crops. Amazing how things do even in an unheated house! There is still a couple of weeks to sign up for the CSA memberships. I have added 5 more shares a week or so ago, as things are looking so good. I changed a couple of things... we now have 'Personal shares' for a single or a couple, I am offering delivery to your door each week (talk about stress free veggies!) so you don't even need to go down to the market for organic veggies if you don't have the time! Veggies are picked and delivered to your door on the same day... you can't get fresher than that! I have also broken it down into 5 week increments, for those of you who have a harder time budgeting (like me!!) - you can just get and pay for 5 weeks at a time. You can also now pay and sign up online - this was a technological revelation for me, but makes things so much easier for the members! |
